Quote from Carl Rogers, American Psychologist

“We cannot change, we cannot move away from what we are, until we thoroughly accept what we are.
Then change seems to come about almost unnoticed. “

Sometimes life can seem... difficult or even overwhelming.

At one time or another, most of us have felt trapped by things we find ourselves thinking or doing, caught by our own impulses, or foolish choices; ensnared in some unhappiness or fear; imprisoned by our own history. We feel unable to go forward, and yet we believe that there must be a way.

How does counselling work?

My work is about helping people to change, to encourage and then to empower a person to live more fully, to be more authentic. Counselling can provide the space for you to share the difficulties you’re experiencing, help you come to understand these problems and then for you to make the changes that feel right to you.

In the hands of a skilled counsellor, vulnerability becomes a pathway to strength. Through therapy, you can re-write the narratives of your past and create a future filled with possibility.

As an integrative counsellor, I can offer a range of approaches that will help with the process including a psychodynamic approach, person-centred therapy, CBT as well as relaxation techniques and hypnotherapy if it is appropriate to the presenting issues.

Hello, my name is Simon Rylance.

My career has largely been in education, spending 35 years in the teaching profession, with a large part of that time in senior pastoral leadership roles including that of Head Teacher. When I decided to retire from teaching, I knew that I wanted to build on all that experience and continue to make a difference.
